Clear nail polish is also great if you need to fix a scratch on a watch with a plastic crystal (as opposed to glass). Use a q-tip or similar product with nail polish remover to remove the current shine on the plastic (and the scratch!) and, once dry, even coat the plastic with a thin and even layer or clear nail polish. I used this trick on my swatches and similar watches all throughout the 80's and 90's.
