This falls under "Not from the Onion." For those of you that don't follow American pro football. Tiki Barber was a star running back for the NY Giants (with an outsized ego) and retired before the season started to become a tv announcer. He spent a significant part of the year badmouthing his coach and quarterback. The Giants just won the Super Bowl without him. Tiki:
“I feel great joy for them because I know in a lot of ways I helped a lot of guys on that team,” Barber said. “I know Brandon was someone who benefited from me being there; even criticizing someone is a way of getting them to think about themselves.”
I asked Barber if he thought his criticism of Manning helped prod him out of a shell. “I don’t know, cause Eli doesn’t pay attention, ” Barber said laughing. “In this case, it made him stand up and I guess become aware.”
That is such an ungracious, egoistic, PUNK move! He should have been congratulatory and apologetic -- and that's it! Truth be told he became a Giant hater! Thinking that they couldn't win w/o him. What an incredible lesson in humility for the rest of us! He thought he was so critical to their success. - Ha! I also applaud the Giants for letting Shockey go to explore new possibilities.
