As I've mentioned before, I hated the book. Peter Jackson's making the movie. Problems to date include: (1) Ryan Gosling was set to star but was fired; (2) Susan Sarandon thinks Jackson turned her character into a "tacky caricature"; and (3) Jackson and one of his art directors can't agree on how to depict heaven. Number 2 at least isn't Jackson's fault. Sarandon's role in the book could accurately be described as a "tacky caricature."
