The first batch of Where the Wild Things Are movie toys have been revealed - - Kubricks and Real Action Figures doll have been solicited in Previews for October. I'm not clear on the pricing for the Kubricks, but the Max doll is $150. Via.

John K (the creator of Ren & Stimpy) has a theory that the best tie-in toys are inevitably "off-model" -- that is to say, there's a bit of artistic license where the sculpting, painting, etc. are concerned.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think a bit of "off-model" tweaking might've made the WTWTA toys a bit more appealing. These are kinda ugly and lifeless.
I agree. They're disappointing. I think the movie images have a certain creepiness that's lost in these toys.
ReplyDeleteBut Kubricks are always pretty lame.
