Holiday Gift Recommendations

Below are the absolutely best books, comics, and toys that I obtained over the last year.

NECA's Big Daddy from Bioshock. I have one taking up a good part of my desk. It's very stable despite it's size, well-painted, and satisfactorily poseable. Available at Entertainment Earth, eBay, and Amazon.

Cucos vinyl minifigures on sale at Tenacious Toys and eBay.

Revoltech Gloomy Bear available at eBay and Amazon.

Super Skrull custom Munny by Dave Flanagan.

Prepainted Star Wars miniatures. These are great for any Star Wars fan, but they're particularly good for a parent who needs to have cheap rewards on hand. Because they're cheap and made of fairly soft plastic, the figures are also great for anyone who wants to customize miniatures. And with the new Old Republic MMO coming out soon, I suspect that there will be a lot of people interested in purchasing custom miniatures based on their avatars. The photo you see above is a McQuarrie concept Luke Skywalker that I made by heavily customizing a couple of two-dollar miniatures. Available at eBay, Cool Stuff Inc., and Amazon.

Drood by Dan Simmons. Easily the best book I read this year. Available at Amazon.

Essentially Odd: A Catalog of Products Created For and Sold at the 826 Stores available at Amazon.

Umbrella Academy Dallas. Best comic book of the year. Available at Amazon.

The Goon in Calamity of Conscience. I've read it four or five times now. Available at Amazon.

Fables Covers: The Art of James Jean Vol. 1. It's a huge book that really shows off the best part of the Fables comics. Available at Amazon.

Last Exit to Nowhere t-shirts, perfect for the geek who wants to show off his geekiness in a manner that only other geeks will appreciate. (Yes they're my sponsor. They're my sponsor because they're awesome.)

And finally, the perfect stocking stuffer - - James Jean mints on sale at Giant Robot. But don't get the chocolate flavor. They taste terrible and smell worse.

If you need still more gift ideas, then check out the books, toys, and Etsy finds I've featured. And for some warnings, check out the reviews I've written.
