My favorite covers from Marvel Comics' solicitations for September 2010:
Franken-Castle #21 cover by Dan Brereton.
Secret Avengers #5 cover by Marko Djurdjevic.
Deadpool #27 cover by Dave Johnson.
And if you're looking for artists who clumsily avoided drawing feet, you won't be disappointed.
Jae Lee demonstrated that he could draw feet (Namor: The First mutant #2):
And hide them (Wolverine #1):
Several other artists also chose to hide feet:

But these covers were particularly noteworthy as the artists simply gave up:
X-Men: Curse of the Mutants - X-Men VS. Vampires #1 by Nick Bradshaw.
Secret Warriors #20 by Jim Cheung.

I think hands are harder to draw than feet
ReplyDeleteI don't know that these artists have difficulty drawing feet so much as most of them are in a rut of common pinup compositions.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if more superheroes had interesting footwear it would be worth making the effort to break comfortable conventions.
