Tim: The art is great, very good in Watterson's style. But the scene is in poor taste. I am surprised at how much this bothers me.
ReplyDeleteHolden: Good stuff, I like it.
Jason: Top points!
What Chris said.
ReplyDeleteI would want Watterson to be pleased if he ever saw this contest. After seeing Tim's entry, I hope he never does.
Bridge to Terabithia is a tragic novel. The scene is appropriate to the subject matter. Not all art is fuzzy and comfortable. Watching Calvin befall the actual fate of the character in the novel is not any more inappropriate than the novel itself. It is poignant, and tragic, and upsetting. As is the Calvin cartoon.
ReplyDeleteI love this entry.
