Link roundup

1. Tura Satana tribute (safe for work).

2. One more thing you learned in school that is not true - - South American Army Ants don't devour large mammals, let alone people. Via.

3. My wonderful coupon ninja wife is quite diligent in entering contests. And it just paid off courtesy of My Coke Rewards:

You have won a PlayStation Move Prize Pack which will include: 1 PlayStation 3 system, 1 DualShock controller, 2 PlayStation Move motion controllers, 1 PlayStation Eye camera, 1 SingStar Dance game and 2 SingStar Microphones!
It never even occurred to me that I would one day own the system. Anyone have suggestions for games? I'm thinking Red Dead Redemption for me, and Marvel vs. Capcom to play with my boys.

  2. I don't have a PS3 but I *do* have Red Dead Redemption and thought it was great. The undead DLC is totally worth acquiring. I'm not even a casual gamer but I really liked this game and almost every dude I know has gotten it and also really enjoyed it.

    Congrats on your win!

  4. You should give Demon's Souls a try. It's about as hard as an 3rd person RPG can be, but there's something about taking down a monster with the strength, vitality, and size of a bulldozer to make you feel like you accomplished something.

Plus the story is a about as far away from the current "a hero is you" theme that most modern games are obsessed with. It boils down to a few components
*Horrible devouring demons ate the biggest nation on the globe. And in a hundred years or maybe even longer, there won't be anyone left to eat.
*It's implied that every horrible abomination you fight is just another hero or head of state who decided that they'd prefer to be a monster than a deadman.
*The number of friendly NPCs in the game are in the ballpark of 12 or so. You get the majority of the story and what's going on from these survivors. And you can kill them. Why? Because they have things you need.

Oh and the xp and currency are actual human souls. The only way to survive is to consume them and make yourself stronger.

So it's got that goin' for it.

  5. You lucky dog! I won a DS fat from Jones Soda a few years ago, but they never sent it too me because it was 'crushed by the UPS truck'

The uncharted games are fun, and I also enjoyed 3Ddot Heroes.

  11. While not a new release for the system I'd have to echo Uncharted 2 as it was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had across all game systems.

  12. RDR is a great bet, but don't discount the games on the PSN. I recommend Flower, PixelJunk Monsters, PixelJunk Eden, PixelJunk Shooter, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, Everyday Shooter and a bajillion and one PS1 games.

  13. I heard Scott Pilgrim was hard and not very good (despite the graphics). What did you think?

  16. Scott Pilgrim starts absurdly difficult but gets easier as you upgrade your character but you either have to commit to grinding at the beginning of the game or just be causally stronger at the end. Its fun if your a fan of Scott Pilgrim but it was way too short...
