Link roundup

1. Follow and win some Warhammer 40K miniatures.

2. Buy 1 model kit, get a 2nd at 40% off until March 22nd at Entertainment Earth.

3. Tremendous response by Grant Hill to last weekend's ESPN documentary on the Fab Five, in which Jalen Rose said that Duke recruits only "black players that were 'Uncle Toms.'" The end is the kicker. (Relatedly, I can't believe I'm saying this, but Jalen Rose makes me miss Stephen A. Smith. Sure, Stephen A. just yelled a lot, but when he spoke, I felt that he spoke with insider information - - that he had often just finished speaking to the players he was commenting about. But with Jalen Rose, I get the impression that he hasn't done anything at all to prepare for his evening's "commentating" other than watching ESPN.)

4. At Toycutter: Big Daddy and Little sister Munnys.

  1. As a long time Duke fan, Coach K does recruit different players. He was ahead of his time in that and it's part of why Duke is so consistently good. He does not recruit NBA style players. He wants smart, team guys who can run his systems. He avoids the one and done crowd.

I can understand completely where Jalen Rose's quote comes from.

Duke is not for everyone (players or fans). They do things differently and they work. It's a good way to get hated.

  2. You can understand why Jalen Rose called Grant Hill an Uncle Tom?

    Yikes.

I love that response by Hill. That dude exudes class and intellect. And I love the FU at the very end. FYI, I'm no Duke fan - but how it's GRANT HILL. That guy is class act.

I'm glad to see you post this over here on Superpunch, too (and I agree about Jalen Rose's commentary)
