Nine Inch Nails, Daft Punk, and Chemical Brothers all doing movie scores now.. I guess it's not much of a departure from Danny Elfman (Oingo Boingo) and Clint Mansell (Pop WIll Eat Itself) doing soundtracks but it does seem like a trend nowadays.

ReplyDeleteHey John,
ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to catch Chad Valley (real name Hugo Manuel!) at a small gig in Glasgow a couple of months ago. I was photographing the gig for a local magazine and I was blown away by his stuff.
You can download his debut EP from iTunes (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/chad-valley-ep/id400802164) and he has some new stuff coming out soon. It's got a brilliant summery, shimmering electro sound. Stand out track for me is 'Up and Down'. Enjoy!
Ash.
I've recently stumbled upon Xiu Xiu (about 10 years too late to be considered cool), but I am loving them.
ReplyDeleteTheir latest album is "Dear God, I Hate Myself" and it is spot on (Warning: Do not watch the video for the actual song "Dear God, I Hate Myself;" the song is great, but the video is fairly disgusting).
