Last night's episode of Raw

Last night's episode of Raw was the first time I really enjoyed the WWE since Lesnar quit. (Ladies, my wife, who didn't grow up watching wrestling, loved it too.)

It's one wild stunt after another in this match between Sin Cara and Evan Bourne (you can skip the first three minutes):

And here's one of CM Punk's compelling speeches, in which he rips the WWE and Vince McMahon and The Rock:

And the earlier battle of words with Shawn Michaels (there to promote his new show for the Outdoor Network). CM Punk absolutely dominates the arena:

  1. Punk's speech has been the highlight of all the wrestling sites today, and for good reason. He really is the best all around in the business right now.

  2. The cm punk promo at the end was, by far, the best one since Stone Cold's 3:16 promo. If not better. It's one of those moments where you see a wrestler reach icon status before your eyes. It's a shame that he will either take a leave of absence or leave all together. I can't believe that they push and cram guys like Orton down our throats when they have a guy like this who makes it all look so easy.

  3. Which wrestling blogs are good?

  4. bleacherreport.com has an ok wrestling section that features lists and blogs. I wouldn't read the comment sections though. It's not really what one would call 'enlightening.'

  5. Yeah. I'm on bleacherreport all the time. It's constantly updated and most articles link to other wrestling sites as sources and whatnot. Keep in mind that pretty much anyone can write an article on there, though, and some people take themselves way too seriously.

  6. The play-by-play announcer sucked in that awesome match. Jim Ross can single handedly make or break a match. Allow to me to elaborate:

Lately, I've been rewatching WWF and WCW ppvs from late 80's early 90's. The gimmicks and storylines in WWF were far superior so the wrestlers drew lots of heat. But, the matches were snoozefests. There would be a 10 minute headlock "weardown" hold in every match. The WCW matches were far far superior and the fact that they had Jim Ross helped a LOT. That fucker is the GOLD STANDARD for play-by-play. Everyone should be emulating him.

  7. I agree. Michael Cole is horrendous. The King just has funny shirts.

  8. The King isn't a bad color man. The ultimate team-up would have been Jim Ross & Bobby Heenan circa 1991 calling a Ric Flair match.

  9. I agree that Punk had his 3:16 moment. Best "I can't believe this is happening" since the Nexus tore the ring apart. And before that...uh...?

I drew up an homage to Punk the other night:
