3. I'm rereading American Gods for the first time since it came out. I'm really enjoying it and can't imagine what I didn't like the first time. But anyway, this caught my attention:
"I read some book about brains," she said. "My roommate had it and she kept waving it around. It was like, how five thousand years ago the lobes of the brain fused and before that people thought when the right lobe of the brain said anything it was the voice of some god telling them what to do."

I had the same reaction to the book when I read it for the first time, but now that you have me thinking about it, maybe I'll give it another shot.
ReplyDeleteVery cool links, I'll check them out.
ReplyDeleteI'm about 125 pages in, and am enjoying it greatly. It's been so long, I have no recollection of why I didn't like it the first time.
It was my first (book) experience with Neil Gaiman, and it was recommended to me after having a dream where I fell in love with a forgotten Irish God.
ReplyDeleteIt's likely my favorite book.
I love Gaimann's writing, but hated American Gods the first time around. Should I try it again? I'll give it a 2nd chance but I'll always like Neverwhere more.
ReplyDeleteI'm about halfway through and don't understand what I didn't like. Maybe it just confounded my expectations for some reason.
