just got back from LA - having been born in West LA and living in orange county for several years I thought I knew what to expect... I was wrong. I knew it was bad, but after living for several years in the idyllic northern cal coastal area, going back there was like stepping into a hideous caricature of what I remembered from my youth. Appalling, gross, filthy and seemingly beyond all help, LA is an urban desert of humanity. I would gladly pay to not have to go there ever again.
