How exactly does a third seat work in an ultra-mini-hatchback? Scion calls it “Asymmetrical Dashboard and Seating,” and it works like this: By removing the usually bulky air-conditioning unit out from under the glove compartment, iQ’s designers were able to carve out more legroom for the front passenger, allowing him or her to push the seat past the driver and create extra legroom for a backseat passenger. The driver is essentially situated somewhere in between the two passengers.
