More and more, I think video game reviews are essentially paid marketing at this point (much like airplay was/is bought on pop and country radio stations). The more you hear a tune, the more likely (so the theory goes) that you will grow to like it and buy it. So goes it with video game "reviews"--the more you read about something being great, the more likely you are to buy it for yourself.
