The Cabin in the Woods is outstanding

Funny and constantly surprising (and fairly light on the gore, or at least disturbing gore). I loved every moment until the last 10 lackluster minutes. I'm not sure whether the last ten minutes was weak so they tried to salvage it with a celebrity cameo, or the last ten minutes was weak because they chose the wrong celebrity. Either way, go see it even if you think you hate horror movies.

(And if you have seen it, here's a jpeg of the gambling white board.)

  1. Agree, Cabin in the Woods was pretty awesome, though i don't agree with "gore-free". Also, boobs!

  2. More accurate to say the gore is more slapstick than disturbing.

  3. How scary would you say it is? I know scary is different to each person, but like comparing it to another horror flick.

  4. I didn't find it all that scary - there are a few 'startle' moments; but otherwise things proceed as you'd expect them to - at least until the third act; and at that point the meter rates more 'amazing' than 'scary'.

  5. It would be scary to a child, but I don't think it would be scary to anyone over 16. Kind of like an Itchy and Scratchy cartoon featuring real people.

  6. Though I didn't find it scary, I did find it refreshing. They actually committed to a bold story. I agree that the verrrrrry end could have been different, but the meat of the story was outstanding.
