The Descent

Over the last few months, I've started catching up on all the movies I've missed since my boys were born.  After a slow first 15 minutes, The Descent is far and away the best of the horror movies I've watched.  Kind of like a female version of Predator, but played for relentless tension instead of laughs.  Or like Pitch Black, trading less charismatic leads for far better designed monsters.  It's a $2 rental at Amazon.  (Director Neil Marshall also directed the Blackwater episode of Game of Thrones.)  The posters for the film are very weak though, aside from this Japanese mini-poster:

  1. This is by far one of the best horror movies of recent times. Highly recommended.

  2. The Descent is awesome! Glad you liked it. Surprised to hear that you didn't like the posters though, since the "skull illusion" one is a favorite of mine -

  3. No, I don't care for it - - the skull just looks weird, and the women's positions makes it look more like some sort of sex film.

I kept thinking during the movie that it would be an excellent ad for the nike fuelband.

  4. Did you watch it with the US happy ending or the (darker) British ending?

  5. The American ending, which I thought was perfect. I read a detailed description of the original ending, though.
