Link roundup

1. 5 Things Nobody Tells You About Living in Japan. (Wish I'd read this before visiting years ago.)

2.  Howl's Moving Castle (the book) is a $2 download at Amazon.

3. The BBC is adapting Susanna Clarke's Jonathan Strange And Mr Norrell as six hour long episodes.

4.  Qualcomm's patent wall.

5.  Scroll down to the story about killing a crow (and cringe).  (Probably NSFW.)

  1. Jonathan Strange And Mr Norrell is one the best books I've read in a long time. I loved it so much, I made a John Uskglass; the Raven King action figure for myself..

I can't wait to see how this adaptation turns out.

  2. Did you read her short story collection? Also very good.

    1. Ladies of Grace Adieu? Yep - Loved it. She's marvelous. And I love that you promote the Thursday Next series by Fforde - that's another brilliant series that needs more readers.

You might also like the works of Jeff Noon. VURT is a great book...

  3. Hi John, thanks for posting that link about Japan. It led me on a 3 hour tangent about Japanese/western culture - something I was talking about recently with a friend who still works overseas.
