Calling Kentucky Route Zero a game is a bit misleading - - it has the mechanics of a 2D adventure game, but no real puzzles. It's more like interactive fiction with a beautiful aesthetic. The story is reminiscent of Lost, Twin Peaks, and The Twilight Zone. $7 for such brief gameplay (and so much backtracking) is a bit steep, but I'm definitely intrigued enough to stay tuned for part 2. This seems like the future of storytelling.
