It's a classic formula: a young boy is sent to spend some time with his grandmother, who just happens to live next to a forest filled with magic. He meets a cute girl, finds a totem that transforms him into a sasquatch, befriends a talking flying squirrel, and has an adventure. Into the Woods is, I assume/hope, is just the first in a series of Bigfoot Boy graphic novels written by J. Torres and illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks. Funny, wholesome, and sly.
The book is aimed at second to fourth grade readers (my seven year old read it and liked it a lot), but like Gravity Falls, it's perfect for readers of all ages. $10 for 100 pages at Amazon.
