Link roundup

1.  Fascinating look at the insidious methods used by online reputation firms.

2.  So, I uh, guess we won't be seeing that Grendel Prime action figure any time soon.

3.  Mark Millar hilariously mocks the potential of DC super hero movies.

4.  Anti-drone clothing:

The ready-to-wear countersurveillance solutions include a series of ‘Anti-Drone’ garments and the Off Pocket, an anti-phone accessory that allows you to instantly zero out your phone’s signal.

Collectively, Stealth Wear is a vision for fashion that addresses the rise of surveillance, the power of those who surveil, and the growing need to exert control over what we are slowly losing, our privacy.
5.  Have video game makers already run out of ideas for iOS games?  It's been a long time since a game came out that people got excited about.  Hundreds and Temple Run 2 are the only ones that come to mind. Hundreds wasn't very good, and Temple Run 2 is an incredibly lazy update to the original (Agent Dash, for example, is dramatically superior).

  1. for me personally, the only good game(s) to emerge from the "runner" drama would be "canabalt" and more specifically, "subway surfers". subway surfers is very slick! smooth controls. phenomenally better than temple run, even though it came out before subway surfers.

"canabalt" and the popular "ski safari" games are really good for short bursts... and they are 2-dimensional/side-scrolling, so i'm not sure that compares with temple run.

as far as other games go... "tripletown" and " drop7" is probably my favorite puzzler - not necessarily new though. "dark nebula" and "dark nebula 2" are really well made and free last week, if i remember correctly. "ramp champ" was a favorite - a carnival style game. for a more extensive game, "kingdom rush" and "towerdefense" are quite good.

but yeah... to prove your point, these are all fantastic games, but none of them are brand new or even simply new. things have been regurgitated. it's good to have competition; temple run, agent dash, running fred, canabalt, jetpack joyride and the recent pitfall! - but competition should encourage improvements... and eventually innovation. i'm sick of the runner games for the most part. i'm hoping everything shifts to more creativity and less "quick/rush" games.
