Movie review roundup

I watched these on Netflix streaming:

Haywire: Mixed martial artist/American Gladiator Gina Carano stars as a secret agent out for revenge.  There are two great scenes where she beats the hell out of Channing Tatum and Michael Fassbender.  And she throws a lot of jumping punches throughout the movie.  Otherwise, it's remarkably dull and valuable only as a case study in how not to make a thriller.  Bad dialog, bad plot, bad hairstyle, bad music, bad emoting (from an all-star cast!), bad hats...

Cold Weather: When a pathetic slacker's ex-girlfriend goes missing, he seizes the opportunity to pursue his lifelong dream of being Sherlock Holmes.  Mildly entertaining if you like innocent detective stories and skip the entirely superfluous first 30 minutes.

  1. Haywire - the hat. Never has a piece of haberdashery so lifted me entirely out of a film and flung me against the rocky shores of the absurd than the little newsboy number Gina Carano dons in an attempt to be inconspicuous.
