Concept art and in-game footage from the new survival horror Alien game

Alien: Isolation features Ripley's daughter Amanda investigating her mother's disappearance. Here's the trailer:

And here's a developer diary. It looks like the game will be reminiscent of Outlast and Amnesia, focusing on exploration and flight (but do the uploaders know you can pick the preview still for Youtube videos?):

This is Ripley:

Speaking of, the reissued old-school Alien figures are in stock here, here and here.

  1. the premise makes zero sense. How can Ripleys daughter "return" to a place she's never been...let alone one that was atomized via self destruct at the end of the first film??

    1. My misunderstanding, she's looking for the black box from the Nostromo

    2. the black box would have been aboard the Narcissus, if at all.
otherwise the massive nuclear explosion would pretty much have made the entire quest moot. The game may actually be the first in the Aliens franchise that isn't a broken mess...but so far as retconing...I am dubious.

  2. My understanding is that the storyline follows after the original movie, but doesn't adhere to any preceding canon. But, if you listen to Al Hope in the second video, he says, "the question kept coming up... when the Nostromo went missing, who would go searching for it?"

So, now you have to assume that the canon from the first movie isn't safe either... and that instead of the Nostromo blowing up, it was just left to float endlessly in space.

Regardless of how much deviation there may be to the retcon... you can't deny how beautiful the environments looks and how perfect the atmosphere syncs with the original movie. It's on the radar for me.
