I increasingly have a sneaking suspicion that game publishers spending money on streamers to promote and advertise games is often a waste because the people you're reaching with that are, mostly, the people who don't play games because their time is spent, you know, watching streamers

Like if nothing else I have to conjecture that 'time spent watching a streamer' correlates pretty strongly with 'parasocially susceptible to streamer ad reads'. The people most targeted by the advertising are the people with the least ability to buy the product.
