Frostbiter: Wrath of the Wendigo (art roundup)

I'm reading the book of Alex Toth animation designs, of which a ton is obviously H-B, and it's WILD what they made (or at least proposed making?) into a cartoon in that era. A Moby Dick cartoon?!?!? Where MD is heroic and he has teen sidekick scuba divers??????

ONly got this small image from Joe Q's Substack but it's a new cover for a Sword of Azrael Deluxe by Quesada, Nowlan, and Kindzierski. Collection includes "the now legendary" Azrael/Ash. Largest image I can find. Really interesting to see. A big series for me. This would be my third version...

Went to the John Le Carre exhibition today and was pleased to learn that the greatest spy novelist of all time in addition to bleak epics of gnawing doubt and tragic moral compromise liked to doodle little animals getting fucked up.

The other day I posted these panels from the “new” Wonder Woman of 1969, which look amazing, even if the unnatural monochrome effects likely reflect DC’s desire to save time and money by eschewing more complicated separations, but who knows? - maybe it was a conscious artistic choice.
