AO3 is the 56th most visited site website IN THE WORLD and is in the top 30-40 in the US depending on the month. Semrush estimates that AO3 gets more monthly visitors than eBay or ESPN or the NYT with users spending more than 20 minutes per visit. Those are astonishing metrics, but has also opened a door that not everyone wants ajar which is partially what this story is about.
