San Francisco emergency medical workers are going to wear rings that will track their temperature and other vital signs

The Oura rings are the brainstorm of an assistant psychiatry professor:

Two weeks ago, Mason’s study on saunas and extreme heat in the treatment of depression came to a screeching halt when UCSF froze all non-essential research.

A dejected Mason texted Harpreet Rai, the CEO of Oura Health. She had purchased the Oura Rings because they were non-invasive, wearable devices that tracked body temperature. The pair discussed COVID-19 and the CEO began wondering if the ring device that records the wearer’s vital signs could help TSA agents in airports determine whether they are going to get sick.

“I told him, ‘I have no idea how to get you into an airport, but I’d like to put them on the fingers of all UCSF’s emergency staff,’” Mason recalled.

“Let’s do it!” the CEO responded.
The rings have been marketed as a sleep aid.

"Jewelers must say whether diamonds are mined or synthetic: U.S. FTC"

Reuters:

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission, which investigates allegations of deceptive advertising, has sent warning letters to eight companies to insist they distinguish in advertisements between diamonds from mines and those made in laboratories

...

De Beers has responded to pressure from laboratory-grown diamonds by tearing up its decades-old policy of only selling natural diamonds in jewelry and beginning to sell synthetic stones.

It sells the lab-made diamonds for less than rivals to emphasize the difference between what it sees as fun, fashion jewelry and natural diamonds created in the earth
As Bruce Sterling wrote,
Insist on purchasing organic Slow Diamonds, fully-natural lumps of carbon artisanally dug by hand right out of Mother Earth
