The Mandalorian's Fornite snagging a Tie Fighter emote is fun

You can download the Mandalorian loading screen here.

And speaking of silly tie-ins:

Finally, Cyclops lets loose in Marvel Rivals:

Venomous review of The Mandalorian and Grogu

Bilge Ebiri for Vulture:

Rotta’s voice allegedly belongs to The Bear star Jeremy Allen White. I say “allegedly” because not only does his voice not sound like White’s (it has clearly been processed to sound slower and lower), it also retains none of the actor’s characteristically haunted delivery, thus rendering the casting pointless. Between the Mandalorian’s stiffness and Rotta’s torpor, we may wonder why we ourselves are supposed to care about anything that’s happening onscreen.

And another:

The ugliest expensive movie I have ever seen

The Disney+ opening montages where they only show helmeted or robotic figures are really loathsome.

Good essay about roleplaying effectively as a "loner" character, and appreciating Han Solo's behavior in A New Hope

Why Han Solo Was An Amazing TTRPG Player And TTRPG Players Of Han Solo Characters Mostly Aren’t:

The fundamental mistake that a wannabe Han Solo player makes is thinking that it’s other players’ job to convince them they should play – when it’s in fact, by choosing to play an awkward character, it’s your job to work out why you remain in the game and go along with what’s happening.

The new Micro Galaxy Squadron vehicles are up for preorder, including the ridiculous INT-4 Interceptor

The Hex with Darth Maul and Rook Kast

INT-4 Interceptor with Warlord and bonus blindbox

Imperial Remnant AT-AT Battle Pack (walker, mini walker, interceptor, six figures) up at Amazon.

And speaking of the Darth Maul cartoon series, they actually created a physical miniature for the animated production:
“There’s a lot of pressure to just produce the show, and as a result, there are gaps where we need to think creatively to solve problems,” Aron explains. “One example is this miniature ship. We had the episode kick-off meeting, and in the story reel they used one of the Black Sun ships as a proxy for Rheena Sul’s. The problem was that the ship would be too recognizable.”

“We didn’t have the time to build it in CG,” adds Art Director Andre Kirk.

“So I jokingly said, ‘What if we just built one?’” Aron says. “‘We could build a miniature and shoot it.’”

The playful suggestion proved to be the most efficient solution to the team’s tight deadline.

Free Star Wars RPG and comic and other Star Wars stuff I saw today

DID YOU KNOW I wrote an unofficial ROGUE ONE prequel comic and made it with @gavinguidry.bsky.social, @micahmyers.bsky.social and @addisonduke.bsky.social? It's free and good, imo: bannerlessgames.itch.io/rebel

Haha, love the way they're displaying the Salvaged Protocol Droid Bucket at Disneyland

There should be an assassin droid chase version with red eyes

The official Mandalorian and Grogu poster looks like a loving satire Brandon Bird would make, but without fully committing to the bit

New official poster for #TheMandalorianAndGrogu created by Matt Ferguson! 🎨 @mattferguson.bsky.social

Those little flying vehicles are apparently some super obscure 80's toy I've never seen before (and a sign this movie is made by and for people that are too steeped in Star Wars nostalgia):

Related, I tried watching the new Darth Maul series--I stopped watching early in the first episode, and then tried episode 6 because I'd heard it was good, but it felt like nothing more than a collage of moments from other Star Wars product. Why wouldn't Disney think AI could make something similar? (Support Brandon Bird)

Yeah, I'd probably wait in line for the Salvaged Protocol Droid popcorn bucket

Video game trailers, video game recommendations, and video game nonsense

Oh, you’re watching the Game Awards? Heh. I’m not watching that slop. I shall be instead refreshing a feed of posts from people who are all watching the Game Awards

OK, here's my ranking of the best Star Wars of the last 25 years (non-movie edition)

11. Baby Yoda S1

10. Darth Vader Book III #16-19: The Shu-Torun War

8. The Spectacular Failure of the Star Wars Hotel

6. KOTOR 1

These were good, too:

The best star wars is the comic book where luke dumped water out of the millennium falcon and it formed giant ice cubes in space and darth vader crashed his spaceship into the giant ice cubes and almost died

New Star Wars paper craft project based on a Visions cartoon short

Make your own little unique droid from "Yuko's Treasure". (Gets a little sad how many of the episodes are about people whose only companion is their phone.)

Look at this great figure of the casino boss and his mouse droid from the "The Duel: Payback" episode of Star Wars Visions

Great episode, I enjoyed it much more than the episode in season one.

I'm just assuming this really is what happened in the Star Wars novels?

I mean that is what happened, canonically! Corporate interests found leaked communications during Leia's run for Chancellor, allowing Centrists who were secretly trying to let the First Order take over to take power and allow this to happen "that should have been in the movie" I agree

— ellie lockhart (she/they) (@eleanor.lockhart.contact) October 19, 2025 at 11:53 AM

in universe, the average lib voter is gonna be like "what did I tell you, you couldn't suck it up and vote for Darth Vader's daughter because that made her complicit in war crimes, and what happened? Darth Vader's grandson kidnapped your children and brainwashed them. I told you so"

— ellie lockhart (she/they) (@eleanor.lockhart.contact) October 19, 2025 at 11:54 AM

I just realized, like. Was "Vader = Anakin" some big secret? Or an open secret that's technically illegal to say but everybody knew, or what. Was Luke just comically uninformed about current events on account of how he grow up? When Vader was like "I am your father" did he think Luke already knew

— Larry (@larryskorke.bsky.social) October 19, 2025 at 11:59 AM

ok so: it was quietly known that Luke and Leia were siblings but that was like, specialist/niche celebrity knowledge; if people knew who their family was, it was "Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala". Anakin being Vader was secret until the Centrist party obtained a holo of Bail explaining this.

— ellie lockhart (she/they) (@eleanor.lockhart.contact) October 19, 2025 at 12:02 PM

this was a major political scandal, led to Leia losing the Chancellorship to First Order compromised politicians who allowed the Order to rise, and also led to Ben deciding to trust Snoke over his own family
