The International Taco Bell 50k Ultramarathon is this weekend

31 miles in Denver:

It has been described as Urban Legend. More mysterious and barking spiders than the Barkley Marathons. The International Taco Bell 50k boasts a higher DNF rate than the famed Leadville 100 Trail Race.

Some of the rules:

Be present at all 10 Taco Bell stops along the courses.

Eat a menu item from at least 9 of the 10 Taco Bell stops.

By the 4th stop, all entrants must have consumed at least one (1) Chalupa Supreme or one Crunchwrap Supreme (dietary restrictions will be allowed within reason).

By the 8th stop, all entrants must have consumed at least one (1) Burrito Supreme or one Nachos Bell Grande (dietary restrictions will be allowed within reason).

Finish under 11 hours.

SURVIVORS will eventually get a commemorative item after successful completion of the run.

The Habit's ongoing promotion with Alex Vesia includes a special bobblehead

The Habit (I like their Cobb) has various Dodger-related promotions including discounts when the team turns a double play at home, and lately have been featuring Vesia-inspired menu items. I guess I'm glad the bobbleheads aren't being given away at my local shop so I'm not tempted into wasting the day:

Immersive Dune experience coming to Los Angeles

Here's the website. The LAT says:
In one centerpiece of the exhibit, guests will be asked to take their so-called “test of humanity,” an opportunity to place one’s hand in a box
...
“I don’t want to spoil exactly what happens when you put your hand in the box, but it is intended to be somewhat shocking, participatory and to put people on edge”

McFarlane made a deluxe Lara Croft figure if you regret missing the GI Joe version

Various weapons, and two heads, although the difference in expression seems fairly slight.

New video game and comic book Humble Bundles

A horror-themed bundle of IDW comics starting at three volumes for $5.

The first game bundle is described as "arcade-inspired fun" but includes games like Norco, so a broad selection starting at four games for $5, Steam scores displayed.

The other new game bundle features the Dying Light open-world horror game, starting at $6 for four DLC including "Brecken" and "Rais."

Finally, the isometric CRPG bundle (WH40K Rogue Trader, Disco Elysium etc) starts at $10 for five games and expires in a few hours.

Today's news and jokes

What are the chances that this Hawkeyes vs. Hawks mixup from Eric Schmitt was an AI hallucination resulting from somebody on the committee staff?

Everyone's said all there is to say about Schmitt's hilarious "Hawks" boner. But the part that I keep coming back to is that Schmitt apparently thought proving Smith was in Atlanta would somehow prove some cross-prosecutorial conspiracy. Then he didn't bother to confirm if Smith ever was in Atlanta.
