All the same people who assured us that Israel could never defeat Hamas to only then underestimate how far the Israelis would go to flatten Gaza are now claiming that the Saudis could never defeat the Houthis

If Saudi society ends up with no choice but to have to engage in the restructuring needed to learn to fight effectively, that could end up having domestic, geopolitical and geoeconomic implications that reach far beyond the frontlines between Najran and Aden

A Chinese fishing boat ignored three warnings to leave Taiwan's restricted waters. Now interior footage shows what the water cannon actually did inside. The video circulating on Chinese social media shows flooded cabins, soaked floors, and scattered belongings on the Jin Sha, hit by Taiwan Coast Guard water cannons near Dongsha Island on October 1. Chinese patriotic text overlays the clip, "long live the motherland," even as the footage shows the aftermath of a boat that refused to leave. The footage isn't being suppressed in China either. Chinese outlets have picked it up, but framed as Taiwan roughing up "ordinary" fishermen on National Day, leaving out the part where the boat ignored repeated warnings first. Same video, two completely different stories depending on who's doing the editing.

(FWIW, "the physical and geopolitical terrain through which this trade must traverse makes it one of the most perilous logistical corridors in the world")Worth asking once again with cases such as this: How much of it was simply bad economic/investment policy by Beijing keeping relevant civilian institutions afloat, and how much of its supposed military purpose was a projection by Western observers?https://t.co/hjUiykOcDT

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

The Cornell Daily Sun breaks some news — Cornell Police made a drug-related arrest at the Chi Phi house the night *before* the alleged assault took place. Drug violations can result in immediate interim suspension, but that doesn’t seem to have happened. https://t.co/DmicZZdL48
