Don't read the text, and try to guess what Carrington is telling Smith to do in this cute post-game moment

A technical for "being disrespectful to the game of basketball" (she really does make everyone nuts)

In the moment it was crystal clear it had nothing to do with the referees or the other team--the referee had literally just called a foul on Seattle (her coach says she hasn't seen that called a T before) (and note Boston grabbing her face to try to stop her from making it worse). Also, I apparently stopped watching the game about 30 seconds too soon, because I guess Seattle's coach had a meltdown when Indiana didn't pull its starters quickly enough for her liking:

Absolutely fascinating player to watch--Steph+ on offense, and a tragedy on defense.

The WNBA is supposedly expected to lose roughly $50 million this year

WaPo:

Multiple people connected to the WNBA, however, cautioned that only around 40 percent of WNBA revenue actually reaches the league’s teams and players.

...

Also hanging over the league: the expectation that the players will opt out of the collective bargaining agreement next year. In the past, the players have been frustrated by what they view as a lack of transparency about the league’s finances.

Another lingering question in WNBA circles is how league decisions are made. When [the WNBA commissioner] announced the league would pay for charter flights ahead of this season, plenty were pleased but didn’t understand what had changed or who ultimately signed off on the expense, which [the commissioner] said would cost $25 million per year for the 12 teams.
