Fresh dance move

Anyone watch America's Best Dance Crew on MTV? Last night's episode featured a performance by Hype 5-0. During their routine, the men simulated choking and punching a woman. The judges praised it as a highlight. And the show's editors focused on the moment with a closeup.

  1. Yep, she was meant to represent Blueprint Crew-- they were knocking out their opponents. The judges praised because its the first time Hype 5-0 not only step up their game, but also made it clear that they were in a competition. Sadly, too late b/c they were eliminated.

  2. Yeah, this is also a direct rip off of something in a So You Think You Can Dance routine. This was the second time this group pulled a concept straight out of another performance. Their Lady Gaga routine that the judges claimed was so original is the exact same thing Gaga did herself on a TV show appearance.

  3. Ah, I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention to pick up that special meaning.

  4. I used to think youth was wasted on the young... now I am sure television is wasted as well. I love how MTV shows lots of PSA's touting tolerance, sensitivity, and how this generation is the one to correct the mistakes of the past, but the network's bread and butter is the objectification of women, and the appeal to the tasteless gutter interests of their audience.
