Funny military anecdotes
By far, the best one was this one. There was an artillery unit that had a battery of 155 Howitzers that had nuclear ordnance. Their purpose was to destroy Anchorage and the surrounding areas in case of a Soviet invasion. My dad knew one of the artillerymen in the unit. Every so often, they would get orders to go off in the wilderness for training for a period of time. My dad told me that somebody (they never figured out who) made up some some dummy orders as a prank and sent these guys and their howitzers off for a field exercise that ended up lasting a few weeks. Then some real orders came through and nobody knew where these guys were and the shit hit the fan. Somehow, the Army had lost a battery of nuclear 155's and the Pentagon was severely pissed off. Eventually, the Army figured out what happened and the unit returned back to the base. My dad asked his buddy what he did during the time he was away, and he told my dad he spent a month just fishing at a nearby lake.

As @jgold85 points out, warthogs are fierce and terrifying. But Bradley and Cooper are slow learners. A month later they tried again.

Safety could only be found on top of a termite mound. That foiled the ferocious warthogs.

Stray Dog Joins Team, Completes Grueling Race
As the team prepared to embark on the final section of the race- a 59 km coastal kayak – race organizers warned against taking Arthur as it would be difficult and dangerous. The team respected this and started off, leaving Arthur on shore. He refused to be left, though, and started swimming after the team. This was too heartbreaking to witness so Mikael quickly helped Arthur into the kayak, to the cheers and applause from the bystanders on shore.

The Vanishing Game--a free interactive novel and website written by a James Bond author for Land Rover
William Boyd, who recently wrote James Bond novel, was commissioned by Land Rover to write a thriller featuring the brand. The result is called The Vanishing Game. The novel, which you can download for free at Amazon, is more a parody of GQ than successful story. But the companion site is impressive. A narrator performs the book as beautiful full screen images play in the background. You can pause the action at various hyperlinks to enjoy the visuals.
