Two prominent law firms heavily fined for using AI in a legal filing, and then not adequately investigating and correcting the error when questions were raised

There's a short write-up with long excerpt here, but honestly, the judge's order is good reading. (The fined law firms are representing Los Angeles's former District Attorney in a lawsuit against State Farm.) (I'd love to read about firms get pressure from tech companies to use AI to lower costs, but I imagine most attorneys don't really need more pressure to find ways to work faster)
