The episode starts with a delightful animated look at the history of mankind's shifting views of space, including a look at Copernicus, Galileo, HG Wells, and Edgar Rice Burroughs's John Carter of Mars (which begins at 11:20).
And right after that segment is a fun pulpy sci-fi story about an unobservant scientist's plucky secretary being kidnapped and taken to Mars:
