(Of the nominees for best novel, I read and enjoyed The Saint of Bright Doors by Vajra Chandrasekera (gripping and strange, but I'm not sure the late shift in featured character worked), and Translation State by Ann Leckie (an interesting move into horror and adds great richness to the earlier Radch novels, but gets a little slow in the last quarter))
