@petersize10 Somali ostrich chicks take shelter under their male parent on a hot afternoon in the middle of the road in Samburu National Reserve. I was fascinated seeing this behaviour as it’s something I hadn’t ever seen before. I’ve since learnt that this is part of a process called imprinting which is an early-life process where baby birds learn to identify and follow their parents by recognising the first moving object they consistently see.
