BYU said it will no longer permit transgender clients to receive voice therapy at its speech clinic

She has been receiving voice therapy at Brigham Young University for more than a year. But as of this week, the private religious school is refusing to serve her.

The staff told her that the administration at the school, which is operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has decided to end all gender-affirming speech therapies because providing them doesn’t align with the faith’s policies.

The Code of Ethics from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, which approves BYU’s program, states: “Individuals shall not discriminate in the delivery of professional services or in the conduct of research and scholarly activities on the basis of race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity/gender expression, sexual orientation, age, religion, national origin, disability, culture, language, or dialects.”

185 LGBTQ German actors "staged a mass coming-out"

Nearly 200 LGBTQ actors in Germany, including some of the country's biggest film and TV stars, staged a mass coming-out in a German national newspaper Friday, in a public appeal for more diversity onstage and onscreen.
