This is being sold as "giving users a stake" but there are always mechanisms that massively enrich those who started said project, and always a very, very short period in which anyone else can make even a meager return before the whole thing collapses because it's unsustainable

I think i see it as the inverse of what they're saying - they are looking at these vast communities and thinking 'how do we get more money out of them that doesn't involve us giving them more value?' as you can't sell their data/ads so profitably https://t.co/2x6Zb6zeoK
