The only insight I can possibly add is that I’d heard NetEase is pulling ALL investments out of NA. Started last year. Are these layoffs all the NA design team? If so then it appears no, it doesn’t matter how successful your game is, corporate policy created by geopolitics and trade relationships do

This reminds me of when Life of Pi won the Oscar for best VFX and the VFX supe went up to accept it and tried to talk about how the entire studio that won the award had just been shut down for bankruptcy and 400 employees were protesting outside and they interrupted him with play-off music
