You think you're extremely online and then you learn Sesame Street had a detective named "Colambo" thirty years ago

Wiki:
He shares Columbo's "One more question" mannerism and often talks about his never-seen wife.

Good Big Bird poster from the 1980 Portland symphony

(FWIW, when it was posted on a blog in 2012, a commenter said "Hello John from the Portland Symphony! This is an amazing image! We at the office have never seen this before.")

A deep dive into the cookies that Cookie Monster eats on Sesame Street

NYT:

“If he eats the cookie, and it only breaks into two pieces if it’s too hard, it’s just not funny,” he said. “It looks almost painful. But if he eats a cookie and it explodes into a hundred crumbs, that’s where the comedy comes from.”

[The baker] has perfected a recipe that is “thin enough that it’ll explode into a hundred crumbs,” [the puppeteer] said. “But it’s not too thin that it’ll break in my hand when I’m holding it.”

There's a new ballet at the Royal Opera House inspired by Jim Henson's "The Dark Crystal"

Here's the official site if you want to see it. Time Out said:
the show takes key elements and themes from the movie – fantastical creatures, the destruction of worlds, and as the programme note puts it ‘ecological overtones’. What we’re given is a 70-minute plotless mystical odyssey through different realms, encountering a cornucopia of creatures, elements and humans.
...
It might leave you panicking about the state of the world, but it’s a wild ride. Buckle up and let it take you away.
I don't think there's any video online, but I posted a few more images below:

The lost Wicked Witch episode of Sesame Street from 1976 has been uploaded to Reddit

In the episode, the Wicked Witch drops her broom on Sesame Street, and terrorizes the populace until eventually reclaiming it after disguising herself as a seemingly normal woman. At one point, Big Bird arms himself with a baseball bat and hockey stick to defend the store. Two summmaries say the episode was pulled after one airing because of complaints it was too frightening. But probably the better reason to have pulled it was because the shapeshifting scene suggested normal old women should be feared.
