So is there a lot of karaoke room prostitution going on in KTown or what?
— EIE (@enuffisenuffla) October 29, 2026
Could karaoke nights in L.A. be hitting pause? L.A. City Councilwoman Heather Hutt has proposed an emergency 45-day ban on new karaoke-room permits in Koreatown, with the possibility of extending the freeze for another year. The proposal also calls for $75,000 in LAPD funding to investigate suspected illegal activity and enforce existing regulations, following concerns over after-hours operations, prostitution, drug activity and illegal alcohol sales. Existing karaoke bars would not be forced to close, but new permits could be put on hold as the city considers stricter regulations. Read more at the link below. https://t.co/c0zEIO6JPn

Did you see the viral cyber research last week that suggested Samsung Smart TVs are listening to us? It was intriguing and led to other research seemingly proving that the TVs are programmed to reach out to connected devices to activate mics to listen to rooms.
— Joe Tidy BBC News (@joetidy.bsky.social) October 29, 2026 at 5:33 AM
There's a lot we still don't know and I'm sure other researchers are looking at it. But the really odd thing was Samsung's own response. They sent me this statement but would not say anymore - or deny the cyber researchers' findings. Samsung's ACR info does not say anything about mic recordings.

Tyrese Maxey on whether he changes his baby's diaper: "I'm a big diaper changing guy. I take pride in the speed that I'm able to change a diaper and keep her from crying. So I'm a big diaper change guy, big feed guy, big nap guy. I'm all of it, wake up in the middle of the night, go get it. I do it all man. I try to cherish these moments, cause it feel like already now she trying to crawl and do different things. So she's already moving too fast for me"

The Dallas Mavericks reported their lowest home attendance in nearly 25 years last night (18,111). While that's only 6% below capacity, the fact that it came against OKC, in Kyrie Irving's first home game in almost 2 years, perhaps a sign that Dallas's historically robust ticket demand is starting to soften?
