Passed down through three generations of family ownership, the Kito's have operated this sweet shop since 1903 and, over the years, have weathered a series of unimaginable challenges. From the internment camps of WWII, to depressions and pandemics, and the ever-present threat of gentrification, Fugetsu-Do is an impressive story of resilience and its significance to the Nikkei community makes it an unquestionable icon of Little Tokyo and the City of Los Angeles. .
